Newly disclosed court records show DHS ran a surveillance operation against anti-ICE protesters, labour unions and left-leaning non-profits in Minnesota. Undercover agents infiltrated community meetings, joined private Signal chats and recorded audio at a "resistance skills training" in a public library, while administrative subpoenas pulled union and non-profit financial records under an inquiry into "domestic terrorist financing."

What It Means

The predicate is the tell. Pointing a counterterrorism authority at unions converts political association into a financial investigation without anyone alleging a crime.

Why It Matters

None of this needed a warrant. Watch whether any subpoenaed organisation is ever named a target.

Three Terabytes of Signal

What Happened

Fifteen defendants face federal conspiracy charges in Minnesota, and fourteen pleaded not guilty on July 1. The government has amassed nearly 16 terabytes of Signal data and asked for ninety more days before turning chat logs over to the defence. Prosecutor Sommer Honeycutt acknowledged "There is a large amount of chats that are not specific to these defendants."

What It Means

The volume is the finding. Nearly 16 terabytes is not targeted evidence-gathering, and the government concedes much of it belongs to people not on trial.

Why It Matters

Judge David Schultz refused the stay. Defence attorney Jordan Kushner: "We don't know for certain how they got all the Signal chats."

Standard Practice, No Examples

What Happened

DefenseScoop reports, citing two sources, that Steve Feinberg's memo directing up to $243.9 million to Palantir through March 2027 was influenced by BOND — Business Operators for National Defense, launched in February to embed industry executives in Pentagon procurement. An unnamed "War Department official" did not answer questions about the purchases, called the directive "standard practice," and declined to name another contractor BOND has produced a similar directive for.

What It Means

The defence names a programme that cannot produce a second instance. Routineness with no other example is not a category, just one memo with a label.

Why It Matters

Acquisition rules permit a no-compete award when the agency documents why. The memo cites none of them.

Fingerprints to Take a Child

What Happened

A draft HHS work statement, still at sources-sought stage, describes a biometric vetting network for adults seeking to sponsor unaccompanied children: ten-print fingerprints, photographs, document authentication, an optional rapid-DNA module. HHS's own AI inventory identifies the receiving platform as the "ACF instance of Palantir Foundry," and fingerprints would be searched against the FBI's Next Generation Identification system.

What It Means

The adults enrolled are not the children and are not accused of anything. They are relatives volunteering to take custody, and the price is a federal identity record reaching DHS.

Why It Matters

Reuters reported in July that ORR had passed ICE over 460,000 investigative leads since January 2025. The draft walls the DNA off from CODIS. Watch whether that survives the award.

SpaceX went public in June. The stock reached $225 and now trades near $135, with 30 percent of the offering going to retail investors, three times the usual share. Reuters reported NASDAQ changed its rules at SpaceX's request, letting the company join the NASDAQ 100 on its fifteenth trading day.

What It Means

Index inclusion is not a marketing win, it is compulsory demand. The rule change moved valuation risk into retirement accounts whose holders never chose it.

Why It Matters

Former Fidelity manager George Noble called that wrong and irresponsible. The prospectus used the word AI more than 1,250 times while the space business is a tenth of revenue.
